Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu” (Zulu) or “Motho ke motho ka batho” (Sotho), translates as “a person is a person through other persons,” and is a time honoured African proverb, which is the central idea of Ubuntu way of life.

We are proud of our empowerment credentials, and this is in line with the meaningful empowerment of our people, and in appreciation for their ongoing loyalty and support. Together with our company’s impressive performance in the other areas of community responsibility; transfer of skills and management of ‘PDI’s, a 10% wealth creating staff trust held by our total staff compliment, earns our company a total of 65 points in terms of the BBBEE scorecard.

Ongoing training is provided for all staff, in their respective languages, to allow everyone to understand the trust’s rules, appreciate its intrinsic value, and to exercise their rights as bona-fide stakeholders of Sovereign Steel.
